Oh, i had a few minutes. I added a 'references' folder in my gallery with some screen shots showing the zoom levels I work at Enjoy.

Nope I try to do it all by hand. I will usually put a scan of my pencil drawing on its own layer at like 50% opacity and draw over it by hand. I draw in really high resolution. Usually 8000x4000 or more and zoom in so close that my brush strokes end up looking a lot straighter when I shrink it down to size (like 300% zoom). I do use a wacom tablet though and the 'undo' key i think gets used more than anything else. If i do a line and its not right I undo and try it again.

It's not the fastest way of doing things, but the lines usually turn out real nice in the end. Hope that answers your question Also, I draw in Corel Painter which has a really nice brush selection and does a great job of imitating pencil, pen, marker, water color, etcetera.
